Welcome to HOPE for those of you who live with, teach, and encourage children with autism and other developmental delays.
My name is Jean. I was first introduced to children impacted significantly by the brain-based disorders that autism creates, on my first day as teacher. My class was designed to provide intensive interventions in communication, sensory integration, and socialization for students with moderate to severe autism. I was in my masters program for special education at the time. What a year of discovery it was for me as I implemented research-based interventions--and watched these strategies change the lives of my students and the quality of life for their families. I was hooked.
I went on to earn an Autism Certificate while completing my Masters in Special Education at Missouri State University. I have been teaching this classroom of kindergartners through 5th graders ever since. And I am still researching and still learning and still loving it.
I began putting together some of the resources I use in my classroom to share with other teachers and posted them on a store page at TeachersPayTeachers.com. My store is called: Autism Resources by Jean K. Lawson. Please visit this link for ready-to-use materials in the classroom, therapy sessions, and at home.
I would love to dialog with you as well, and you can contact me at: [email protected]
Remember, there is hope for those with an identification of a disability. Press on and find the joys in life all around!
