Have you heard of the Hour of Code (code.org)? Our school district participated, and I decided to sign up my class of students with autism. Wow! What a great experience this has been for me--and mostly for them! We have done far more than an hour of coding. We work on coding EVERY day now. And it's a highlight for our students. They learn and grow. They cheer each other on when the code works. They make me proud!
When we look at students as people with potential, we will provide opportunities for them to reach their potential.
We may one day see more of our students coding and developing programs that benefit us all. Who knows unless we see their potential--and not their disabilities--and open the doors to let them walk through.
What opportunities are you giving your students?
More good things ahead,
Jean
